I’m Thibault: a mobile architect, mentor, open-source contributor, and unapologetic tinkerer based in Normandy.
About
I have spent 25 years making software, nearly 15 of them focused on native mobile applications. Today I work independently through Side Effect, helping teams design mobile systems that are easier to understand, test, and change.
I have worked in large organizations where rigor matters and in smaller ones where curiosity and experimentation can move quickly. I enjoy both. What interests me most is the point where an architectural idea has to survive real deadlines, real users, and a real team.
The first half of my career gave me a strong foundation in Java, object-oriented programming, and web technologies. Then I discovered Swift in 2015 and immediately enjoyed the new set of ideas it opened up. Functional programming, explicit state, and controlled side effects now shape much of how I approach safety, testability, and scale.
I have also spent years building and mentoring native mobile teams. A recurring part of that work has been bringing iOS and Android developers together around shared engineering principles without pretending the two platforms are identical.
Outside client work, I contribute to the Swift community through projects including RxFlow, Feedbacks, SwiftStateMachine, AsyncExtensions, and Apple’s Swift Async Algorithms.
When I am away from a keyboard, I forge knives, fly drones, and ride along the coast near my home in Normandy.

I’m a mobile architect and senior iOS engineer with 25 years of experience in software design, including nearly 15 years focused on native mobile development. I design clear, testable, and scalable iOS and Android architectures, help both platform teams share engineering principles without forcing identical implementations, and remain hands-on with Swift, SwiftUI, Swift Concurrency, and Kotlin.
Alongside architecture and implementation, I am developing an Agentic Mobile Engineering practice for real products. Specialized Architect, Developer, and independent Reviewer agents collaborate through reusable Swift and Kotlin skills, lightweight handoff contracts, verifiable acceptance criteria, and human oversight.

Selected experience
Since December 2025 — Mobile architect, Agentic Engineering R&D, Side Effect
I design and experiment with an agentic engineering system for a supervised-driving platform delivered as two native iOS and Android applications. I create reusable Swift and Kotlin skills, separate Architect, Developer, and independent Reviewer responsibilities, align both platforms through product contracts rather than shared code, and require executable evidence across builds, tests, accessibility, localization, and architecture boundaries.
March 2026 – May 2026 — Lead Digital Continuity and Manufacturing Engineer, Capgemini
A three-month hybrid role in digital continuity and manufacturing engineering in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.
August 2022 – March 2026 — Founder and mobile architect, Side Effect
I founded a consultancy focused on mobile architectures and the engineering systems that enable teams to evolve them sustainably. My work covered assessment, target architecture, software foundations, SOLID, Clean Architecture, functional programming, unidirectional data flow, state machines, delivery practices, and knowledge transfer.
September 2024 – March 2026 — Founder and bladesmith, Carbone Stellaire
I founded and ran a handcrafted knife-making workshop covering the complete product lifecycle, from design and hand-forging to branding, e-commerce, customer relationships, and sales.
August 2022 – August 2024 — Mobile architect, TouchTunes
In a two-year engagement reporting directly to the Vice President of Architecture, I built the architecture and engineering system for new iOS and Android applications targeting four million monthly users. I also contributed to recruiting, onboarding, coaching, and training a 15-person mobile engineering group.
June 2022 – August 2022 — Lead iOS developer, Back Market
A short-term role within Back Market’s high-traffic iOS team, developing features with Swift and SwiftUI and contributing to technical decisions and code-quality practices.
June 2018 – June 2022 — Mobile team lead, mobile solution architect, and senior iOS developer, Genetec
I created Genetec’s native mobile department and grew it to eight developers. I first established its people, practices, and engineering system, then moved into a cross-functional architecture role focused on unidirectional data flow, functional programming, immutable state, state machines, and reusable foundations in Swift and Kotlin.
February 2018 – May 2018 — Mobile architect and senior iOS developer, Nuglif
I worked on the La Presse+ iPad application in Swift, supported its migration from Objective-C, and led technical discussions around architecture, reactive programming, and Git practices.
June 2016 – January 2018 — Mobile architect, senior iOS and Android developer, and project director, Savoir-faire Linux
I designed and delivered native and React Native applications across several industries, including Betclic products serving 150,000 monthly users. I also created RxFlow, contributed to the RxSwift community, and established continuous delivery with GitLab CI and Fastlane.
November 2014 – May 2016 — Mobile and IoT R&D engineer, Sogeti High Tech
I designed industrial mobility applications and explored smart glasses, voice and gesture recognition, image processing, and real-time communication for an Areva research and development project.
December 2012 – June 2014 — Software engineer, Euriware
I developed scientific software and information systems for Total and EDF R&D using Java, OSGi, and Eclipse RCP, with Jenkins and SonarQube supporting integration and code-quality monitoring.
